Three cycling related events occurred this week, the first was that I got the broken spoke replaced that cut short my rides last weekend. This took longer than expected though as my LBS staff all fell ill meaning I lost a turbo session, as apparently you can’t really do one with only one wheel on your bike!
Next my entry pack for the Wiggle Cheshire Cat arrived!
This brought home the fact I was actually going to be doing it and that it’s fast approaching – just a couple of weeks away now.
However the most uncomfortable event was scouting the route for the ride – or more specifically a portion of the route, the bit known as “the killer mile”.
This mile takes you up to Mow Cop, gains some 500ft of elevation, and features a 25% gradient – which my car struggled up and which I am unsure I could walk up.
However, come the 24th – not only am I going to be riding up it, I am going to try and do so without stopping or putting a foot down. Should I succeed in doing so, I will get a shiny medal on top of any other recognition for completing the event as a whole!
Take a look at this video on YouTube, for a taste of what the killer mile entails.
